interesting stuff happening in my old stomping ground, as Holy Trinity in Ayr celebrates St David’s Day with a Welsh Eucharist. (That’ll make the self-proclaimed Ayrshire Taffia in the choir happy bunnies!)
The service will be led by the assistant priest, Revd Professor Peter Neil who learned Welsh while he was a professor at the University of Aberystwyth. He‟s now based in Ayr as head of the school of education at the University of the West of Scotland. Although the liturgy will be in Welsh, a translation will be provided and the sermon, preached by the rector, Revd Dr Ian Meredith will be in English.
In case you haven‟t figured it out yet, Tyred pob Cymro Dydd Gwl Dewi is Welsh for “Come all Welsh people to the Feast Day of St David”. The service takes place on Monday 1 March at 7.30pm. Holy Trinity Church is in Fullarton Street, right in the centre of town, next to the bus station.
